About the event
Dr Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay and colleagues from the University of Birmingham will discuss their research on the impact of different forms of non-custodial sentences on police recorded crime rates. Dr Tim Hope, a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies, will offer a critique of the econometric approach of Dr Bandyopadhyay and colleagues.
Also speaking at the event:
- Catherine Heard of the Institute for Criminal Policy Research will offer an overview of community sentences across the UK and the rest of Europe.
- Savas Hadjipavlou of the Probation Institute will offer a policy perspective on what works in alternatives to custody.
